Preview | Season opener in Belgium – Rally van Haspengouw (Demo) (Demo)

The season opener of the 2018 Belgian Rally Championship once again proves why it is widely regarded as one of the most competitive and most exciting championships in the world. The legendary „Rally van Haspengouw“ does not lack any highlights.

Once again the municipality Landen will host the season opener of the 2018 Belgin Rally Championship. Close to Liege and the dutch border the competitors will tackle legendary stages like Halle van Booienhooven and Heers, some in new configurations to the previous years. These fast but slippery stages will provide an excellent playground for those that are willing to take on the challenge. The entry list is stunning. From Marc Timmers codriven by Peter Kaspers in a Subaru Impreza WRC that led Kris Princen to the title in 2015 there’s a whole armada of R5 cars in the RC5 category. Among those is the reigning champion Vincent Verschuuren who will take on the well known and fierce competition of Cedric Cherain, Kris Princen & Guillaume De Mévius. But not only those passionate about modern day rally cars will have their pulse raised as the Belgian Historic Championship celebrates the return of the legendary group 4 Porsche 911 SC driven by Glenn Janssens who will take on Paul Lietaer driving the Opel Manta 400 that took him to the title in 1988 and Guino Kenis in his screaming BMW M3 E30. Talking of screaming engine notes. Belgian Rallying Legend Patrick Snijers has commited for a full season program in a Porsche 997 GT3 thanks to Maes Containers. He’s sure to give the all wheel drive cars a run for their money.
